Grand Theft Auto V

That's part of my problem with nearly every Rockstar game.

Am the only one who thinks ever game has been an improvement on the last? Because I really do.

--- Quote from: Gregorio on 17 Nov 2012, 19:06 ---I like the idea of having three playable characters palling around, instead of playing as one person, rotating between all of his friends for missions. GTA games always got a bit monotonous for me, as I kind of zoned out and did my best to get rid of all of the mission markers on my map.

My problem with this logic is that it kinda seems like that change might be arbitrary. This isn't an RPG where character attributes significantly impact how players can interact with the world and the people in it (unless I missed something big) so the biggest potential differences (if the mechanics change at all) between the three that I can see are speed and strength (stronger-but-slower and weaker-but-faster for example), and maybe some missions that are only available to one them. That doesn't really sound all that exciting, and it also seems like a kind of faux-innovation, a new central mechanic that in reality is just a gimmick to avoid being called out on repetitive game design. There's obviously a solid chance I'm misjudging this, but at this point it seems like having three characters to swap between is just Rockstar making a couple additional character skins and trying to pass it off as something far more.
Gregorio:
I'd be most excited if it was just a story thing. Like I said, I get tired of driving my one guy to the mob boss' house, watching a cutscene, then doing a fetch quest over and over. At least this way, my 3 playable characters can interact with each other, and it kills the monotony of the "drive here, watch cutscene, get mission, return." It's not a huge innovation, just something that could keep the game fresh.

The first gameplay trailer has been released. I'm a bit more interested now that I was planning. The driving still looks like ass, but it at least looks better than previous games. I never have understood how the driving could be one of the worst control schemes in a franchise called Grand Theft Auto.

I'm also curious, does anyone here actually care about the online aspect of this game? I can't really trust my own opinion on this considering how little interest I have in online gaming period.
