A thought concerning strategies: The person who gets taken out by the mafia might possibly have been killed for voting for a mafia member.

(sorry about the grammar of that sentence, I couldn't make it go together..)

But they're still banned by the TSA, Patrick. So what does *that* tell you?

Tells me jack shit, all our victims were shot to death and/or lynched by you psychopaths.

Interesting.

The irony of TheEvilDog calling anyone else evil is overpowering.  I know, I know, it was a nickname.

Doesn't change it.

So, we wait through the night, pointing fingers and shrieking?  Isn't that how we spend our days, too?

I'm curious about idon'tunderstand's comment -
See, you clearly should listen more to what I say.  :x

Why is that?  Are you just talking about your vote or Patrick?  What do you know that we don't?

Who are you that we should listen?

I thought we weren't supposed to talk at night.  Rule-breakers, all of you!

(I'm imagining that there's some kind of string-and-soup can network in the neighborhood.  And I agree with idontunderstand that considering the mafia's motivations when they kill is important.  Do they kill people who get too close, or are they trying to throw us off?).

I imagine the mafia start off as "in-the-dark" as we are.  The first few hits are probably as random as our lynchings have been.  Remember, they want to take over the village by clearing the rest of us out - doesn't matter where they start.  What we need to do is make sure we don't do more of their dirty work for them!

We need that cop to figure out who's mafia and who isn't, but I'm not sure how that works yet.  I hope we find out soon!

Oh, I thought the mafia all knew each other!  at least that's how I've played before - they could coordinate via PM and such.  I've been assuming it works the same way with this game, but if not, I'll need to rethink some things.

No, sorry, you're right.  And in this game, the masons know each other, too.  What the mafia doesn't know is who's the cop, the vigilante, who's a mason... all they know is who's mafia.  So their hits are not completely random, I guess, but trying to see a pattern from two hits isn't going to get anyone anywhere.

We need more info, and that's either more dead bodies, or the cops!

(The GM is late, but he had a busy weekend, so it's ok!)

It has finally happened. The villagers have become inured to the sound of bullets. The death of one of their own is no longer an impediment to sleep. The villagers greeted the dawn with relief, before they girded their loins to see who had made it through the night. Headcount was conducted. One person was missing. The search was on.

A bullet-riddled corpse is dangling from the same tree that cesium 123 had hung from yesterday. The pool of blood below the body strongly suggests that poor Linds was hung and shot while he up in the air. Only ruthless, cold-blooded murderers could have done such a horrid deed against an honest mason. It seems the Mafia is trying to send a message.

The villagers gather to try to figure out who did the deed.

Day 3

People are getting scared, suspicions are rising and trigger fingers are getting itchy...
We can't trust anyone and that means a lynching.
As none of us have any proof or evidence, I say we hang Idontunderstand.
He's been far too bloodthirsty and willing to lynch people.

So I say we hang that punk Patrick by his earlobes until he can wear some bitchin' ear rings. And then we hang him with said ear rings in his ears. :psyduck:

All I know is that the above doesn't sound like much of a lynching, just sounds like a suspension fetish

At the very least, we can be pretty sure that Patrick isn't the other mason because Linds voted for him yesterday.  She's also the only person killed so far who voted to hang anyone (cesium133, Gareth, and Whitey Fats all either voted 'no hanging' or didn't vote at all on both days).  Did she get too close, or is the mafia trying to set us up?
