I've joined a couple of others over the years - I was in another one before this, which prompted me to look for and join this one.  I've joined a couple other ones, most of which I let slide.  What was weird was when someone who lurked here recognized me on another forum (I used the same username). 

"Hey, are  you the Carl-E from the QC forums?"

"uhhh... yeah." 

"Cool!" 


Suddenly, the internet was a much smaller place...

I was on a forum once...I actually helped run it. Quite small actually, and it's been through several ownership changes since I left...but while I was there, I was contacted by some publishers for a Naruto video game, to come to the press release. Quite nice, flying out to L.A. at no charge...even nicer, meeting the VP of marketing for the Japanese arm of the publisher. Nicest, having dinner with her.

Actually no, nicest was pointing out to everyone present that Tazmo (the douchebag who runs the largest pay-for-download Naturo fansite) was pronouncing "Naruto" incorrectly (It's "NAH-roo-toe", not "nerr-AHH-toe").

Totally worth it.
