So I'm quitting smoking
Thrillho:
I've got one more cigarette left. I will smoke it at work tomorrow, at lunchtime. And after that, I cannot afford cigarettes for the rest of this month.
Let's go hardcore cold turkey.
Bluesummers:
Ec. Ec-ec-ec--Ec-o-nomic style.
Go for the gold. Unless gold has something to do with your brand of cigarettes. Then go for plutonium.

My impression is that's the best way. As I recall, you've cut down substantially, so the next few days shouldn't be as difficult as for quitting cold turkey from a pack or two a day. But consider that you may remain vulnerable for a while, and that smoking one cigarette can beget smoking another ....
That's how I felt when I quit. YMMV.
Welu:
I know you can't make someone quit if they don't want to but is there any way to talk to someone about you think it's time they did? My parents have tried multiple times and I really think my Mammy is capable but in all honesty, Da doesn't try nearly as much and I think his coercion of, "Just one more." or "We'll try again tomorrow." is the main reason she still smokes.
Redball:
You might suggest she should preserve her health so she can see the grandkids. I quit at 40 when my daughter was 5, and being around for her was certainly a factor.
