So I finally switched to a safety razor and soap lather for shaving a few weeks ago. I'm actually kind of annoyed that I didn't switch years ago now. It's smoother, it's less irritating, and while the initial cost is a bit pricey it's a hell of a lot cheaper than buying disposable heads.
Carl-E:
I always liked doing the soap-lather, even with disposables. I bleed less, for some reason.

So I took the holiday and decent weather as an opportunity to fix the loose tie rod on the van (it's part of the steering, and had been caussing a pretty noticeable shimmy on the highway). Get underneath, and find that all the shaking had loosened the other end of the tierod as well, and one of the sway bar links (all important stuff). So the two hour job of changing out a tie rod took about 8 hours, an extra trip to the parts store, much time lost using a tool that didn't work (special tierod wrench I rented - piece of shit) losing and finding a roll pin that never made it into its designated place, skinning three knuckles and taking a bit off my exposed scalp when a wrench slipped and my head hit the edge of the wheelwell.
All in all, a good day. $56 in parts, and a $60 alignment at a nearby shop afterwards. Better then the $400+ a shop would've charged...
Still, owwies. And I can never get my hands completely clean for several days afterwards...
Zingoleb:
how do you bleed when you shave? I don't bleed even when I scrape it dry...
Thrillho:
I bleed when I shave basically every time.
nekowafer:
Yep so do I. Even on the least sensitive areas to shave. I don't even have particularly sensitive skin.
