nekowafer:
I'm just glad you have some meaningful support, no matter where it comes from.
Valdís:
Yeah, I didn't know any of that, Carl.. Heavy..
(I should make a Blót dedicated to her well-being and fortune. Eir would have to be a grade-A bitch to overlook it. <3 )

No, what's fucked up is that they can't be more down-to-earth and actually REALLY listen to you like people here do. I've been there, they're really quite useless.
Not that this quite compares, but my wife has rheumatoid arthritis...she had to drop out of college twice for medical reasons, and can't work due to limited stamina.
The point of me mentioning this is because all of her friends, from high school, college and other places, abandoned her. They wouldn't give the time or effort to understand what she's going through. She found people online in auto-immune illness forums who help her cope, give supportive tips about daily life, converse about treatment options, etc.
I know that paraneoplastic syndrome is much more rare, but it's worth a try, if your daughter can use a computer, she can get some support through friends, even without ever seeing their faces (sound familiar?). She sounds like she has the drive, the willpower, to carry on. And that's what separates those who have given up, from those who refuse to let their condition define them. It is that which is most important.

We might respectfully disagree.

I much prefer my online life to my IRL one.
Also it is NOT a life sentence to a chair. Get her a ReWalk and she'll be back on her feet, once she stabilizes.
