I've had a problem like the one at the beginning of that xkcd comic before. Firefox would randomly spawn new windows. Turns out the problem was when I reinstalled my laptop's keyboard after replacing the CPU fan, I accidentally shorted a connection on the ribbon cable, causing the OS to see the useless "web browser" button as constantly pressed down. The solution turned out to be to tell the OS to ignore that button.
I never found Martin's Sword, though. To the best of my knowledge, Martin's doesn't sell swords.

I like that the most recent xkcd goes so far over my head I've lost sight of it. It means there's depths of nerddom that I don't even know about yet.
