Obviously you've no reason to not think it's me, but I will point out that most saboteurs would not reveal themselves on the very first mission, the one where they were more likely to be ferreted out.

I'm not saying that Gareth or Unicorn actually are sucking the candycane cock of the Filibians, just that we can't totally discount the possibility, despite their stellar performance earlier.

This is gonna get paranoid pretty quickly.

No, you've got a point.  Either of them could still be spies that just didn't sabotage the first mission to gain credibility.

I'm curious, why did you disapprove the last mission?

I'm about to leave to run some errands, but I'll be back this afternoon with a list.

Because I didn't want to be in this exact situation.

((Also because I thought I might still be gone, though I did leave instructions before I left with GWF of course))

Speaking of which, I adjusted the rules in order to boost the efficiency of the game. Resistance operatives no longer need to tell me they're going to support the mission when they go on one. I will assume you support. Spies will be submitting their SUPPORT or SABOTAGE when they send in their vote on the team and I'll use it if the team is approved (and ignore it if it isn't). I will updated the rules to reflect this (it's in italics).

I'm hoping to give you guys way less delays since I feel like you're waiting on me more than anything which should NOT be the case. I'm hoping this mission gives everyone a lot to talk about.  :-D

I actually calculated this would happen. It's impossible to say who, but either TRVA123 or de_la_Nae is a spy.

Both of them should be placed under house arrest until further notice.

Wait, why us? What makes you think Gareth and Unicorn aren't spies?

I would also like to point out that the mission leader could also be the spy, deliberately choosing people who will sabotage the mission.

Gareth is too trigger happy. If he were a spy, he'd have sabotaged from the get-go, thus tainting henri, Unicorn, and himself. I'm calculating Unicorn is clean based on instinct.

Now, what changed in this mission? henri was left out, sending out two people who have not yet been in the field along with two who had. One of the operatives sabotaged the mission. Occam's Razor suggests that the spy is likely one of the people who did not go out before.

For Mission 3, we can send out Gareth and Unicorn again, along with others who have thus far not been sent on a mission. That leaves the spies in a cleft stick - they either sabotage Mission 3, and are mostly excluded from Mission 4, delaying their defeat, or they look pretty for Mission 3 and try to sabotage Mission 4, which requires TWO spies to screw up.

Of course, I could be wrong. My opinion is that based on what we know now, Gareth, Unicorn, and henri are the ones most likely to be clean. I'm an operative of the Resistance, but it's not like I can prove that. *shrugs*

He's accusing me of sabotaging the mission when we went on two missions already where I didn't! Excuuuse me, princess, for being a little touchy about that. Everyone else, sure, fine, I can understand their distrust - they don't know me - but goodness, I expected better of him.

Well theoretically I like BSword's plan.

Then again he might be a spy, and setting up his possible co-conspirators (whoever they actually turn out to be) for the best double-cross ever.

Hm.

Ok, I'm mostly following my gut and sending:

myself
de_la_Nae
Unicorn
riccostar

It seems stupid for me to not include myself with so much at stake (from my perspective, at least - 3 potential spies instead of four).  I'm fairly sure about de_la_Nae and Unicorn, and I think you're right, Black Sword, that we should be sending out some people who haven't gone yet.  Our next two missions will require 5 operatives, so we're not going to have much of a choice soon.

IC: Now, now, we all know what happened to Sir henri beamis in the history books, don't we? Got stabbed in the back during a mysterious incident that ended up with a wiped out village. Seemed the best thing to do was limit any jinxes!

Have a couple people lagging on their team vote and I don't see any reason to think it's due to some sort of indecision. If you're one of them, either hurry it up or let me know in some way that you're actually waiting on something in discussion to convince you one way or the other...

I'll need to use the sign-up topic later to discuss what would be a fair way to create and enforce deadlines in the future. There's a few pros and cons in my head that I'll want to bounce off you all.

That said... the votes are in... (and have been for a while...blame work for keeping me too busy to post ).

APPROVE: 8  /  DISAPPROVE: 1

And I know how your mission went, but I actually need to finish work and get home so I can do a write-up that's at least worth the e-paper it's printed on. Feel free to speculate in the meantime.  :-)

*shudder*

The propaganda of this kingdom needs to be redone entirely. Go kill Candi, the man in charge of it... no seriously, that's it. I hate these ads playing on my TV. I could sit here and tell you about how it will help weaken the grasp Sugarcane has on everyone even further, and it will, but this is just a personal thing. I hate ice cream...

---

Gazing at Caramello Candi's mansion while not under the influence of gingerbread made one realize how much the wealth was centralize in Filibus. One would have thought that mansion belonged to Sugarcane himself, but that was not the case. If Candi's home was called a mansion, then the king's dwellings was a small city in and of itself and a peasant's home was a closet.

This one would be easy. Assassinate the target and anyone who got in the way. Bonus points for style. For this team, style meant taking their victim's blood and painting some of Candi's slogans all over the fancy red velvet cake mansion.

Unlike the last couple missions, this party was BYOW: bring your own weapon. Twizzler garrote, chocolate chip six-shooters, Jawbreaker knuckles, and hard candy blades were brought to the scene.

Entirely unsure of where the ad-man was, each team member took a wing of the house and explored its dark, empty corridors. An hour later they met in the middle, unsure of where anyone was. As they were about to discuss what to do, the lights flashed on. Metal doors slid closed in front of the more practical wooden ones. A set of wall panels opened up to reveal a monitor.

"Brownies. You need brownies. All hail the brownie and all its glory. Brownie is life."

"My gum balls are delicious. Eat them. Try them now or be alone forever."

The ads ran on an endless loop. It took a full week for the team to claw its way out of the mansion through the floorboards. Somebody had to have warned Candi and gotten him somewhere safe while that trap awaited them.

The leader forced all four members to endure painful brain-scrubbing procedures to make sure none of them had been infected with Candi's work. None of them revealed any signs, but the leader knew the truth... one of them liked ice cream. And they were hiding it.

MISSION FAILURE!

Success: 3       Sabotage: 1

It is now the Team Building Phase 4.1. The spies need one more sabotage win, but this particular mission is special... it takes TWO spy sabotages to end in failure. This is a five person mission. Good luck to both sides. Take it away Team Leader Gareth!

*headdesk* So. Unicorn's probably still one of us, but due to henri including one person I indicated was suspect along with two non-veterans, our pool of suspects is larger than our pool of likely do-gooders. Given that only one person sabotaged, I'm inclined to think henri and riccostar may not be ice cream fans, but there's not really any proof. My observations:

Likely clean
Gareth
Unicorn

Possibly clean
TRVA123
henri beamis
riccostar

Likely spy
de_la_Nae

FUCK.

All I can say in my defense is that I put myself on the team knowing I would look extra-suspicious if it went south, and to try and minimize the risk that it would.  I was really confident that I'd chosen well, and now I don't know who to believe.

I've disapproved as well - this team has three of the four of us from the last mission, which failed, and unless we're confident that riccostar was the spy (which I'm not ruling out, but I'm not confident about), I can't in good conscience approve it.

Obviously there are dirty people on the team. But we don't know who. So rather than going with a "I know I'm clean" approach, it should be "Well, all these people were on a failed mission so it's one of them", and try a different team.

Here's the thing: we've already failed two missions. One more failure means we lose. Period. Putting the most suspicious people on a mission doesn't do anything but give the most suspicious people a chance to butcher our operation.

Obviously there are dirty people on the team. But we don't know who. So rather than going with a "I know I'm clean" approach, it should be "Well, all these people were on a failed mission so it's one of them", and try a different team.

I was on the first mission, which went fine. And so was Gareth. I know I'm clean, I'm pretty sure Gareth is as well. The biggest thing that makes me disapprove  is putting de_la_nae on the mission. I don't trust her.

Or sabotaging the first mission would have thrown suspicion on those in the first group. Its strategy. Lay the groundwork for a believable defence. The best bet would be to go for an entirely new group.

Since this looks like it will be disapproved, doesn't mission 4 move on to the next leader?  Or am I misunderstanding the rules?

As far as people who haven't gone yet, there's dr. nervioso, TheEvilDog and Black Sword, yeah?  And I think dr. nervioso is the only one that hasn't led or participated yet.
