I think we're all (mostly) civilized enough to share characters as avatars without getting all fussy about it...we're still ourselves, after all. In fact, I reference the Username more often, especially with people who change their avatar frequently (I'm looking at you, Paul ;D )...I've always used my avatar for every forum I've been on.

I don't know why I haven't done it yet after so long but you have prompted me to update mine.
I miss having fuller/longer hair but I still have a ponytail IRL.
I would love to have a head of hair like hers. *sigh* frizz notwithstanding.

I fell in love with the dream sequence comic and the panel that made me laugh the hardest became my avatar.
I still giggle when I look at it.
