Mini Painting!

Jace:
Not yet. I'll give battlefront that much, they've got a good range, though Old Glory has a pretty extensive range of lower quality stuff.

GarandMarine:
Very, very low quality. Old Glory's proof that you get what you pay for. PSC's a bit better, but just in the name of comparison, PSC only has 178 codes in their WW2 range available. 19 with their modern stuff, including things we don't make yet (things we also don't have rules for, but that's besides the point) if we just take the WW2 codes... (and I'm being generous and including the 1/72 scale stuff) I'd have to count but I don't think their entire line up covers JUST our German range. Which is one we reason we do resin for a lot of our stuff, white metal/resin combos gives us the quality we demand in details/features while keeping our costs low. Changing to plastics for higher demand items like the forthcoming Tiger 1E box makes plenty of sense too.

The bottom line is you (being 15mm WW2 historical wargamers) are still going to be using Battlefront's rules at the end of the day. No one else has near the quality of rules set we have, and there isn't a book out there with the historical detail we provide. So you're going to be using the rules, so why not support the game and buy the minis?

That's the math for a lot of our guys.  However I am not so hardline about it. By all means save some money on StuGs or Shermans, but PSC, Old Glory don't have the specialist stuff. You want to run an SS list? Or my own dear Fallshirmjaeger? We have the range, and they don't, and they cannot begin to afford to catch up. Running Late-war Americans? Just off the top of my head we have two primary types of infantry (regular grunts and paras), that come in winter and summer THEN have all the support options and variants. The order form I offer trade accounts is 35 pages long. Including Mid-War Monsters I don't think there is a single vehicle in the European theater we don't have a model of (Excluding late war wunderwaffen like the Maus, and I can see us doing a Late War Experiementals in the future). For historicals players, being able to be exact is a big deal. They can only do that with us.

ackblom12:
Alright, just finished up a couple more minis. This time it was a Stone Golem and an Iron Golem. Simple color chemes, and I'm still finding the occasional spot where I missed a small spot, but I'm liking how it's going. Need to get more paints at some point though.

Sorry about the flash, but I got no place with decent lighting to really take pictured and I don't have a great camera. They're both a little darker in tone than the pictures suggests.

Jace:
I went with battlefront for my stuff, mostly because I was buying them in store at my FLGS for pat of it, but also because PSC didn't have british artillery and I already owned all the tanks I needed for my list, but for Jess's germans, I went PSC and Zvezda for the vehicles purely as a cost thing. There's a ton of stuff that battlefront has for the brits that I can't really find in good quality elsewhere, but for a bog standard german list, I ain't gonna ruin my wallet for Panzers, StuGs and transports.

Of course, battlefront does have the issue with their infantry having herioc scale syndrome where the proportions of the models isn't exactly realistic. I mostly look the other way on stuff like that though because its 15mm and realistic proportions at that scale looks kind of weird.

GarandMarine:
Looking good Ackblom, something about the front of the helm on the second mini's bugging me, but I can't quite pick out what it is.

Like I said Jace, for the common place stuff like StuG III Gs, I don't see the issue (tournament play might disagree with me on that, but whatever) with saving yourself some dough.

Concur with you on the infantry, but I prefer it that way for a variety of reasons, myself. They're mostly in scale... this reminds me I have Katyushas and crews to paint, as well as a squad of American paratroopers.
