That's one reason why I love Jeph's writing of Claire so much. She is a transgender woman, but he doesn't use any of the stereotypes or tropes we so often have to endure. She is just a person. Her being trans is just one part of her character, not the focus of it. Much like being trans is just one part of our lives, not all of it. Plus she's a redhead (like me) and is cute and adorable as a button (Unlike me, unfortunately :) )
I think we get used to seeing the inner person more than most.
OTOH it would be nice to be a little prettier. Many women have body issues of course, but some of us have a lifetime subscription...
Yes, everyone likes Claire, but it's not just the amazingly cute appearance. It's the amazingly cute personality behind it. Of the two, the latter's by far the most important. We see that in others - just have difficulty applying it to ourselves.
Which makes us no different from most people.

Comic up soon, and a new WCDT thread!

Hehe... Ironically enough maybe, when I was saying 'cute and adorable' I was as much talking about her personality as her looks.

My eyes used to be green with lots of small brown speckles and a few larger brown splotches, which I was told is called hazel. Over the years, though, all the brown seems to have gone away and now they're just green. I have no idea what that means, if anything...

See, I've never understood how that's called hazel. Hazel is a color. It's like golden brown. Yet people with actually hazel-colored eyes are just filled under “brown“

My eyes are hazel; but as a child I was small with rather pointed ears, and was told that I was actually a leprechaun, with eyes "the colour of an Irish bog"!

I've never understood why that's called hazel either, but for the opposite reason -- I've never even heard of hazel as a color except with reference to eyes, and even then it seems to mean different things depending on who's talking. So I'm kind of glad I was able to change the eye color on my driver's license to say "green" instead. Everybody knows what green is.

To me it always seemed that when people said they had hazel eyes, they made the distinction because they didn't want to have "brown" ones. I guess "hazel" sounds nicer?

My understanding of hazel is that the iris is a light brown, very easily distinguished from the pupil, whereas brown is dark and almost indistinguishable from the pupil.

Source: my dad has hazel eyes

(I don't have to worry about that, I've got blue eyes.)

Light brown is still brown though. I'm not saying hazel is always inaccurate, but.I'm not quite sure the distinction is necessary. Then again, my hair is light brown. I wonder if it's close to hazel.

Well that is why I said my eyes were hazel when I was younger. They were golden-brown shading to greenish, depending on light. Not the muddy brown that they are now.

My license still says blue, but they haven't been for a very long time.  Age caused the hazel and green flecks to gradually taker over the darkish blue.

But "speckled" isn't an option.

Doesn't matter, you can't see my eyes behind my glasses anyway.

I'd say brown. But including, say, your nose and at least, say, your upper lip would provide context. Not that anyone here is wondering what you look like after seeing that avatar all these years.

Maybe we should make up absurd origin stories for all the regulars.

I, for example, am from an alien race of shape-shifting dogs who can only maintain human form with steady consumption of chocolate.

My uncle is colorblind. He used to have a pair. He says they don't work as advertised - to give you R/G vision they stop out all the other colors.

EDIT: That is to say, it renders everything except Red, Green, Brown, ect (the colors a colorblind person can't normally see) as grayscale.

Or at least that's the jist I got from him. I really can't say for sure because I'm not colorblind.
