Jeph does change away from arcs to let other arcs develop, and then returns to them.

And, he's not quite as bad as DAMN YOU WILLIS, but he does troll his readership, and this arc may well be part of it (although those tweets indicate that it probably isn't).

David Willis, who does Shortpacked and Dumbing of Age (same characters, different verses), and did Roomies, It's Walky, and Joyce and Walky before (I forget which domain they're on, and don't feel like googling for it).

Let's just say that he's known for trolling his readers.

I'll be honest here: if it turns out not to be trolling and Marten + Claire actually develop more (as friends or anything else, really) i'll be quite happy.
