I'm old enough that I don't care that I'm not getting the references. It's my natural environment. "Indie rock band that only a few thousand people ever heard of? Whatever, kid." Yeah, I'm that guy.

I remember Annette Funicello. I actually thought she was cute when I was growing up (despite her being OETBMM).

And the cycle of confusion and missed references continues. The forum is filled with sounds of "whoosh!" "Whoosh!" References flying over peoples' heads. Arrows missing the target.

What does OETBMM mean? Google turns up zilch.

I'm not old enough to remember Annette Funicello outside the Skippy peanutbutter commercials.

What's not to understand about the strip? It's making fun of selling out, and the hipster-ish feel of the comic in general.
