She gave it back to Marten after the break-up.

Doesn't mean he can't give it to her again...

Masterpiece:
Well I had always felt that Faye had lost relevance as a character in qcverse. She hasn't been on the Station, she missed the wedding... and besides, a lot of the strips play at the library now, further making Faye oblivious. I mean, the characters hadn't had a good drinking party since EVER.
Faye could pop in on occasion, seeing as Hampton and New York aren't THAT far apart, but it would make no huge difference if Faye left.

Official Deathmøle fan outfit: Worry Hat + Skullmaster Mask + "TEH" T-Shirt ... what else?

Neko_Ali:
A small note regarding the Faye vs Claire incoming explosion... I don't think it will happen. Keep in mind that Faye tends to pick on people pretty hardcore until they deliver a good snap back and show they've got teeth of their own. So yeah, I think after today Claire will be a notch up on Faye's respect scale, not down.

someone:
I know that all these characters are products of a single person's imagination and somehow pop out of the writer's mind, so if I like one and not the other, I am really enjoying part of the writer's imagination and find other parts not very enjoyable. It is funny but when I read it, I like some characters and dislike others, as if they are real people.

So I will say that the writer has done a great job with Claire. She is just fun and wonderful. Sure, she is awkward, doesn't think of others at times when she blurts stuff out, and sometimes doesn't show an understanding of others' motivations that are different from hers, but she strives for things she likes, is touchingly vulnerable and wants to reach out to Martin and others. It is sweet.

Also, Jacques making her a transexual was a wonderful bit of background. Martin's response was great and I am sure means more to other readers than me. I recently used this comic as an example of how the world is progressing during a message board argument that arose when a character in Batgirl told the heroine that she was transexual. A mass media character who happened to be transexual meant a lot to many readers who are or who have relatives that are transexual and I bet Jacques' strip has done the same.

I don't know what Jacques plans for Claire, but I am really enjoying her character and interaction with the world. I hope she continues on being Claire the Library Science grad student with her sweet, awkward, sometimes thoughtless attempts to bloom in the world. Of course, the fan boy in me wants her to develop her crush on Martin and for him to get his band going so they fall in love and move in together. But that is just a musing and I don't really try to predict the tragectory of the story.
