personally, i think it would have been interesting to use ancient egyptian as the galactic language, which the various characters could learn to speak to different extents as the show went on. especially seeing as it was such a major plot point in the movie.

True, but to do that they would either have to use subtitles or again switch to english and just somehow imply that currently Egyptian is being used, or else you couldn't understand a word (unless you speak ancient Egyptian yourself, I suppose). It's an interesting concept, but I don't see how they could have made it work.

I did have the film but the only copy that I could find was a Greek release, meaning that while I could understand the English parts, the Egyptian/Goa'uld parts were subtitled in Greek.
I didn't enjoy it as much as I could have.
