Having not seen the film I can't comment on the former, but I certainly don't agree with the latter :mrgreen:

Saw it yesterday, good, not as great as I had hoped from the critical reactions, but still enjoyed it a lot! Some of the action scenes got a little "flashy" at points, with there being a little too much weird lightning and sharp sounds for my taste. I think the movie was at its best when the Guardians were just hanging out. IMO the fight cinematography & choreography was a lot better in The Winter Soldier. The tone was pretty all over the place, and a little hard to follow at times, but it was managed ok for the most part, imo!
(click to show/hide)I also don't really think either Drax nor Rocket really got any "moments of awesome", fight scene wise, which is a shame. They definitively stole scenes outside of the battles tho!
My least favorite part of the movie was the air battle segments, the whole thing with the Novas trying to stop the Dark Astor with a blanket of small (manned..) air crafts was pretty dumb. Also, James Gunn needs to respect cold vacuum. That shit'll do more than put frost on your cheeks..

And btw, shouldn't The Collector have a more secure establishment than that, considering the Asgardians entrusted him with the red Infinity Stone? (What happened to that, btw?) One unloyal servant girl didn't seem like much of a staff for the ancient dude.

Rocket was definitely the best character in Guardians. Most of the others had some great lines and scenes... Sadly I felt Gamora was the weakest character on the team, and Nebula was even worse. I wish they would do more with Collector though. Benecio Del Toro is an inspired choice for him, but all he seems to do in the movies so far is show up, look like he's smelling something foul and spout some exposition.
(click to show/hide)I do doubt what we saw here was his entire collection. It seems really unlikely he would make his base of operations on Knowhere. Being populated by scofflaws and well.. anyone at all. It seems more likely he just set that up as a base of operations temporarily while trying to find the Power Gem. But of course, being the Collector, he had to have at least some of his collection there to enjoy.
