Hell yes. Time for new ink. Fuck yes yes yes. I need some needle time. This one's going to be a big one for me, on a lot of levels. First it is going to be my largest tattoo, it's also significant for me personally as it's going to represent a formal oath and bond over something extremely personal, and finally it's going to be my first regularly visible tattoo once we get back to weather that doesn't utterly suck as it's going to be on my left calf.
On to the colors! I hate color in my ink for the most part. I don't think it looks good on me, and as a professional sexy motherfucker, I can't do anything to detract from my image. Accordingly, blacks, greys and reds.
I took a fair amount of inspiration for this piece from this tattoo piece, and actually contacted the artist about getting her to do a commission for me because her knot work is jaw dropping and lovely. Especially her representations of Skoll and Hati (the wolves forever chasing the sun and moon). Sadly the artist is not taking tattoo commissions at this time, but has given me full permission to use this piece in any way I see fit:
So I might just have my artist use those glorious, beautiful wolves or I might go ahead and use that whole circle, because it's a really pretty cycle as well as a significant part of the lore.
The design of the tattoo is relatively simple, this style of sword running tip down towards the deck,
with this symbol of Freya at the pommel...
...and Mjolnir as part of the guard. Skoll and Hati if I used them as such, or the wolves will be around the center of the blade, and the rest of the ink is inscriptions in runes, which I still need to sit down with a Gothi or other learned individual to get a proper translation on.
I might go ahead and do a knot work band at the bottom of the tattoo but I'm not sold on it.
