Is it common practice to do online messages or emails to hash out a tattoo idea? I've already messaged asking if they're okay doing that because the place I like is two hours away but just wondering if anyone has ever done this?

I correspond with my artist almost exclusively via Facebook, and it seems to work just fine.

explicit:
I did over email, phone and in person. Each place is different, but if they actually use their email or facebook then it is much easier I think. The worst that will happen if you message them online is they respond by saying you should call them. Or they don't respond, but really that'd lead to you calling them anyway.

They're very active on their Facebook page so I figure I'll definitely get a response of some kind at least.

Edit: They've replied asking what I'm thinking so that answers that. :)
