I'm a belly sleeper, I have a lot of trouble sleeping if I'm on my back. I've heard you can take a clean towel and put it on your bed in the area of the tattoo, think that'd help?

Should be fine as long as you're wearing a clean shirt or have something clean under you. Even without something it almost certainly won't affect the way your tattoo heals. I have the upper half of my back tattooed and usually sleep on my back. I haven't had any issues with just wearing a shirt to bed for a couple days.

I just kept mine bandaged for about three days, and after, did the whole "it rubs the lotion on its skin" thing after, and haven't had a problem, aside from gaining weight and having it stretch.

Honestly, the first google search for, "new tattoo care" is perfect. Any questions you have should definitely be answered in that.

Definitely don't keep it bandaged - your skin needs to breathe to heal at its fastest/best. Which is also why anything with petroleum jelly isn't great for healing tattoos. It cuts off oxygen to the area.

If you must sleep on your stomach, keep a clean towel or other cloth under you, and change it every day, until your tattoo is no longer goopy or weeping. And make sure to put a thin layer of lotion on it before you lay down, and when you get up. Cleaning it when you wake up would be good as well.
