Patrick:
Complication: I'm beginning to think I'm mildly allergic to the red ink in the flames. It's the only part consistently itchy anymore now that the peeling is done, and the only part that feels as if it's somewhat puffy or inflamed. Any insights?

Metope:
I had the same thing happen!

Good news: If it's the same as what I had, it will eventually calm down and disappear. There will be days where it swells a bit and itches like crazy (usually hot and humid days, or when you're sweating a lot), but it will go away.

Bad news: It took two years before it completely disappeared for me, but it didn't itch all the time in those two years, just on and off. Since it swelled so many times and also because I have no willpower and scratched it a little more than I should have, in places the red ink has turned kind of uneven. Not much though, and it's only noticeable if I point it out.

If I remember correctly though, I think red ink might always heal more slowly? It could be that it's perfectly normal and it's just taking a little longer than the rest, fingers crossed for that.

Patrick:
Oh jeez. Well, if the red ends up looking bad, I'll just have that part covered up, most likely with black to represent space. Fortunately, the flames are hardly the most important detail, and I could see that flowing into something really big and badass someday.

lepetitfromage:
Yeah, my red ink puffed up every once in a while too, for quite some time. After it stopped itching it was actually kind of entertaining for me. Mine looks fine and it's all solid color with no shading or variations, so you should be in pretty good shape. Looks awesome, btw.  :-D

Metope:
Yeah, I guess I should also mention that the red I have that turned weird are really thin lines, it doesn't take much for something like that to become a little uneven. I have one more solid block of red that is completely unchanged, even though I scratched it as much as the lines. With the amount of red you have, I think it'll be fine.

And yeah, sometimes the red (and the other colours with red in them: orange and brown) would puff up a bit and it would be really weird to touch since it was all risen, it kind of felt like blind text since most of those colours on my tattoo are either dots or lines. I used to say it was a visually impaired-friendly tattoo.
