nekowafer:
Yeah that's the worst for me. Trying not to pick.

The Seldom Killer:
A bit of an interesting development.

Now to be absolutely clear, The Evening Standard is an arm of the Daily Mail so their tendancy to sensationalise everything needs to be taken into account. However, this sort of story doesn't come out of nowhere. This sort of story will now put women at risk because it increases any reluctance to present with related medical issues.

nekowafer:
I can't even wrap my head around that stupidity.

The Seldom Killer:
Ahh, we've really circled ourselves into the stupid hole on that one.

We knew that FGM was happening in the UK or to British Citizens/Residents while overseas and pushed through legislation criminalising it. We then got ourselves of in the embarrassing position of clocking up exactly no prosecutions in the decade since the law kicked in despite an estimated 74,000 instances in that decade. Criticisms all round, especially levelled at the Health sector who would likely be the first agency to be in a position to report on breaches of the law. Looks like they've overreacted and turned into a bunch of asshats. It'll be a gloriously shitty day when this all blows up in our stupid faces.
