Guitars, guitars, guitars
Thrillho:
Kinda funny how bassists are also so frequently overlooked as being shit guitarists.
Let me tell you, I am a MUCH better bassist than I am a guitarist.
Kwaping:
Actually, I think that kinda argues FOR bassists being shit guitarists...
Just sayin'.
KingOfIreland:
Whenever I pick up my bass again these days, it astounds me how much my playing has improved due to a better fundamental understanding of music. It kind of works both ways. Everyone should play more than one instrument

I agree completely. It's a delightfully symbiotic relationship. Being fluent in guitar, applied music theory (read: I can hear what's going on and replicate it, but can't explain it well), bass, and drums is my saving grace when I compose my band's bass parts, and it's applicable to each of us in one way or another. Matt's solid on applied theory (with a focus on melody), guitar, keys, and drums, but has trouble on bass; Paul's got superhuman discipline, drums, applied theory, and vocals on lock, but his guitar and bass skills are rather limited. We all have our strengths and we apply them, and we check our egos and leave our weaknesses for the better-equipped man to handle.
