KingOfIreland:
I have no sweat glands and when I play often, I change my strings often I suppose.

I like good tone

IDMG:
Flatwounds play/feel nice but they're flat, dead and lifeless sounding. Also they snap like fucking twigs.

(I assault my guitar/bass when I play it).

TheCollyWolly:
I'm just gonna chime in and say that if I could go back in time with a revolver and a single bullet, I'd shoot the guy who decided that you'd string Fender-style tuners by sticking the string in the top. It just flat doesn't work, and it ruins my whole day when I have to restring my strat.

Also, flats can be super nice on bass because they basically cut your sound down to the fundamental and get rid of overtones. It can be really great on rootsier (?) music and also meshes amazingly well with a fuzz unit.

Minus the sheer, baffling stupidity of hauling around a Space Echo just to use it as a gain stage/comp this is a pretty sweet rundown. He's a pretty unique guitarist and I always wondered how he got those bassier tones on their first couple of records.

Patrick:
well, something worth noting is that when adding 1ms of delay, it's like having your amp in a small room, giving it a lot of low midrange meat.
