Comic Discussion > QUESTIONABLE CONTENT
Did you notice that?
pwhodges:
Discussion of relationships in the immediate context of the comic is one thing, but any shipping outside that context is shut down in this forum.

That is not the way to refer to a trans woman - please see this thread. I doubt that Jeph would now write that strip using the words that Dora says.
--- Quote ---I don't mind Claire being trans and I know Jeph loves to show how inclusive and tolerant he is
--- End quote ---
Don't you realise how patronising that remark is, both to Jeph and to the whole trans* community?
--- Quote from: Binks on 14 Nov 2013, 20:43 ---Well here's hoping I don't get banned soon for generally being a pain in the ass. That is one of my favorite hobbies!

Stick to the rules and take note of what people say, and you'll be fine; but there's no free pass because you said it first.
Binks:
Holy shit, you people are more sensitive than I expected. LOL. Okay. Um... My bad?
GarandMarine:
Marten has matured a fair amount since that strip, and of course he's gotten to know Claire too. A couple years ago I probably would have reacted pretty poorly to the concept, a couple years later I've actively dated two trans women. Secret of the night: They're just women.
I also wouldn't call being asked to not refer to a group of individuals in a manner they find insulting or derogatory sensitive.
Binks:
I don't understand how that's insulting, though. They WERE born male, right? I mean it's not like I said "freak" or "tranny" or "faggot."
pwhodges:
Please read at least some of the thread I linked. You will find it educational (as I and many others did).
Specifically, whatever reason caused a trans woman to be classified as male after birth does not mean that they are male. Yes, there is scope for misunderstanding; but reading what the trans* community has told us about it should help you get past that.
