Technically, that's an AnthroPC gender explanation, for AI's that have an AnthroPC-brand chassis, like Pintsize and most of his friends. Whether that applies to those with other chassis brands (like Winslow [Apple] and Momo [Sony]), or to AI's that have no chassis at all (like Station or May), we don't know yet. That early in the series, I don't think any non-AnthroPC AIs had even been introduced yet, so it's certainly possible that the explanation in 347 only applies to that one brand.

And yes, some may argue that for Station, the entire space station is his chassis, but given Jeph's recent tweet that AIs legally own their chassis if they have one, I doubt that Hannerdad was willing to legally turn over a huge expensive space station to an AI. Legally, I suspect the station is owned by HannerdadCorp and Station is just the un-chassis'd AI who resides in the station's computers.

Method of Madness:
Wait, "AnthroPC" is a brand name?

DonInKansas:
Pintsize + May = Comedy Gold

Method of Madness:
You had my hopes up, I thought tonight's comic was up and it had them.

Hmm, I thought I remembered that Apple and Sony called their robots something other than "AnthroPC", but when I checked the pages where Winslow and Momo were first introduced, I see that the term AnthroPC was used in both cases. Huh.

Then I don't know what to call Pintsize's brand -- I don't think anyone's ever mentioned a specific manufacturer for Pintsize's style of AnthroPC. I suspect Pintsize may be AI equivalent of a Windows computer -- made by several different manufacturers, each offering slightly different configurations and boxes, while Winslow is by Apple and is based (visually, at least) on iPods, while Sony's models are designed to look more human than either.

Whatever the truth behind that, my point is that Marten's comments may have applied only to the AnthroPC models that look like Pintsize, not to all AnthroPCs by all manufacturers. Look at how much difference there is between various brands of computer today, especially those running different OSes.
