What makes an èrhú an "ethnic" instrument? If a Western folk-rock band included a violin in their line-up, would you describe that as an "ethnic" instrument? If not, why not? This is essentially a less malign version of the attitude that leads racists in Australia to describe Australians like me as "ethnics".
As for the gay dinosaurs, presumably whoever came up with that drivel thinks there must have been a awful lot of gay... well, everythings to cause the Permian Extinction Event...

Why wouldn't a violin be referred to as an ethnic instrument? There is in fact severe criticism of the mass media's endless concentration on Saxon violins.
bainidhe_dub:
Really? I've heard the fiddle referred to in ethnic/regional/national music, but not the violin. Violin is a "classical" instrument.

It's a pun.
I wouldn't feel safe around a cat that much bigger than me.
