In the unlikely event that Angus ever hurts Faye, first, it's probably going to be unintentional. Second, Faye has lots of defense mechanisms. Maybe too many. And they aren't necessarily good defense mechanisms. But she does have them.

Not deliberately, I agree, but calling Marigold a weirdo shutin apparently hurt her.
On top of that, real relationships have ups and downs.

Faye seems to me like she's let down most of those defenses just for Angus. If he decided to leave her for some job, and waste all that effort it took for her to trust someone, he would go on my "QC-Characters-I-Hate" list.
