Method of Madness:
Except you weren't. Jeph took it down because he realized it was saying something that he didn't want to say. Also...

...that might not matter as much as you want it to.

pwhodges:

--- Quote from: PHDrillSergeant on 23 Sep 2013, 06:28 ---In response, my post was removed and I was given a sharp talking-to about how my post was offensive and I needed to can it.
--- End quote ---

Just for the record, I removed that post only because I was worried it might have caused trouble given the hyper-sensitive state the forum was in at the time (actually it did; the relevant response was removed and not restored); I explained that to you, and did not tell you off, stating publicly that your post was not offensive.  I also restored it in full a few hours later, with an explanation.

So it seems odd to complain about someone trying to avoid giving offence.

CrowFairy:

--- Quote from: Method of Madness on 23 Sep 2013, 04:56 ---Where did Emily find time? Didn't Claire start talking about it the day she got them pierced?

--- End quote ---
Claire's been talking about it on her Twitter for quite some time now. I just looked at hers for the first time the other day, and I saw Tweets about being scared about ear-piercing all the way back to July of this year. There are probably some that are from earlier, but that was as far as I felt like going.

Is it cold in here?:

--- Quote from: Jeph ---And that is absolutely not the kind of joke I ever want to make!

--- End quote ---

I take Jeph at his word that he acted based on what he wanted. Supporting evidence is that he didn't make changes when poly people got offended about Tai being unfulfilled with polyamory, or when he got complaints that Claire's life is not showing the horrors often visited on trans people.

Legere-factus:
Poor Claire, how frustrating! Lets hope Tai doesn't try to comfort her with the 'imitation is the sincerest form of flattery' line. That one never calmed me down!

As for Emily, my gut instinct was to be angry at her... a similar thing happened to me with hair dye at school. But she honestly has no idea what she's done. Even if someone tried to explain it to her I'm not sure she'd grasp it. Trying to make parallels with the pea-pun incident might do it, but I was never entirely sure what Emily was reacting to in that run. Did Claire steal her punch line or ruin the experience of eating the peas with a pun she hadn't thought and couldn't reproduce?
