Learning has occurred
Method of Madness:
I didn't know there was a science thread! I'm gonna have to leave it open and catch up later.
LTK:
But this, however, I did not know:
--- Quote ---A couple UK scientists, wondering how Bactrian camels in the Gobi desert were supposedly able to sniff out water from 50 miles away, proposed that the animals were actually smelling geosmin carried by the wind from oases.
A survival trait so obviously useful to camels would likewise be advantageous to us. Long ago we were mainly nomads wandering in arid regions. It’s easy to imagine a parched band trudging mapless in the desert looking for the next watering hole. Then the breeze picks up, and what do they detect? Had they lacked the appropriate olfactory adaptation, nothing, with possibly disastrous consequences. As it was, if they were fortunate, they might smell the faint odor of moist earth, and with it the promise that they'd live another day.
--- End quote ---
Some time ago I was wondering how desert animals are able to do that when there are no olfactory receptors for water. So learning has occurred once more!

The thing about rolls of foil blew my frickin' mind
Method of Madness:
(click to show/hide)Re: Cupcakes - holy shit.
Re: Tic tacs - Bullshit, no such thing as too many. When I eat tic tacs, I WANT SEVERAL. I put the container to my mouth and shake some in and how many come out is how many I want.
Re: Soda container - Interesting! Although I like to leave it in and use the thing that just opens a bit of one side, enough to get one out. But his is fine too.
Re: I've never even tried to eat a pomegranate. Now I think I will! Looks easy enough.
Re: Plastic wrap/aluminum foil - Whoa! That's all I can say.
Re: Bologna - I've heard that before, but still cool. (Eww, honey mustard though)
Re: Egg in an onion - Awesome! I love onions, so you have a tasty egg in a sauteed onion! Holy crap! I'll try that soon!
Re: Bacon - There is NO WRONG WAY TO MAKE BACON...but yeah, this is interesting.
Re: Banana - Looks useful.
Re: Oreo - Ok, that's just too much work. I don't use utensils with my cookies. And dropping the cookie in the milk is part of the fun, because then when you drink your milk there are COOKIE BITS IN THERE.

I have never peeled bananas any other way and I usually just overlap slices of meat rather than cutting them in half (rarely eat square bread anyway) but that foil roll thing I mean just whoa. I mean, we usually use a really neat hand-held dispenser thing the ginger brought home from Japan but now I almost wanna stop using it...
