I was wondering about Gabby as well.
As for whether or not Emily can be trusted, for all her quirks, she doesn't strike me as the type to gossip. She seems more curious and interested in learning about other people than talking about them. She's in her own little world most of the time anyway. This is the girl that spends more time thinking of puns and banana smoothies and looking up facts in encyclopedias than outing anyone.
That, and Claire did say it was a secret. Presumably Emily knows what a secret is and how to keep it. I bet she'd be thrilled she was trusted this way and take special care. Emily is nothing if not enthusiastic in all she does.
Over all, though, I'm glad to see the characters setting a positive example of acceptance when someone comes out to you.

Well of course I evacuated the place first! The squirrel used the proceeds of the jar to buy a nice tree in the country.

Agreed. Not to mention, Emily REALLY seems to think highly of Claire, even before she came out to her. After the ear piercing incident, I think she'll be really careful not to do something that could harm a friend she really admires. After several communication mishaps, I think this is the time where she'll pass with flying colors, since it's also the time where it matters most.

Given Claire's track record it's possible she's a better judge of character than we are.
