Well, it's possible that the guy thought the weirdness would be fun and refreshing. Which it might be, for a while. But then he realized that the weirdness wasn't just a veneer but was actually the core of Emily's being.
At least this clarifies one thing about Emily. Until now I had competing theories. One was that she was romantically inexperienced, which is obviously the correct one. The other was that she was as promiscuous as Raven and simply didn't make any connection between emotional attachment and sex, and was obliviously leaving a trail of heartbroken young men in the wake of her numerous one-night stands.

It seems likely he had "kissed some ladies" before that too. I don't recall anything in the Dora arc (which admittedly I try to repress) about how it was his first time or anything.

Well he had a girlfriend in college. Also we know he lost his virginity in a tiny car.
