Doesn't polygyny specifically refer to marriage?

--- End quote ---
Well, no.  The word is not quite that restricted; for one thing, it is used in reference to animals, who presumably do not marry.

No "u", even in England.  The OED doesn't recognise that form, and derives the word "polyamory" directly from the Latin "amor", not the French "amour".

Ah thanks.  I stand corrected.

--- Quote from: pwhodges on 16 Nov 2013, 01:45 ---Would you write "amourous" for "amorous"?  Well, then...

How many Allies/Ally/Eilly/Whatever variants are there in web comics? Sunstone and Bloodstein have them as well IIRC....

They are all manifestations of the same being.

Maybe you think Orz are *many bubbles* too. It is such a joke.  Orz are not *many bubbles* like *campers*. Orz are just Orz. I am Orz. I am one with many *fingers*..  [/star-control 2]

Hmmı.  I don't think I'm reading a single comic in which polyandry occurs.  (Girl Genius has been teasing us with the concept, but teasing's all it's been.)  Not that I have any opening for a new comic right now ...

Hmm².  Would you call Tai's past polyamourous relationship polygyny, or would that be unnecessary stretching of the word?

I wonder if I can plausibly blame my mistake on a faulty spellcheck or autocomplete?
