So, I decided to skip this season because I've been getting sick of a certain character, but I just learned from a recap of tonight's episode that I can come back because (click to show/hide) (You sure you wanna read this?) (click to show/hide)Clara is finally gone! Hooray!
Of course, this also means that (click to show/hide) (Careful! Spoiler-y talk ahead!) (click to show/hide)Twelve is going to spend the next five seasons mourning Clara's death in ways that'll make Ten's moping over Rose seem callous and dismissive by comparison, but as long as we get some new companions out of it--and a steady stream of ordinaries, not Super Special Mysterious Snowflakes who stick around for multiple seasons--then I won't complain too much.
Masterpiece:
DAMNIT DON'T READ THAT SPOILER
J:
i really don't get why so many people hate clara.

Well, it is a rather big spoiler about the most recent episode, so you gotta tread carefully. But I just put it inside a second spoiler tag just to keep you safe.

I don't really hate (click to show/hide)Clare, per se, just the whole Impossible Girl part of her. The writers introduced her as a giant mystery figure (which never interested me to begin with), THEN tried to make her a person, but once the mystery part of her was revealed there never seemed to be much else. I know they made her more of a character during Capaldi's run, but she just never really grew on me. I really just want the next companion to be someone ordinary instead of one of Moffat's Special Snowflakes.
