Well no, that doesn't work, because Hanners clearly would've closed if she hadn't bolted. Also there were no managers until Faye got promoted, just owner and underlings.

Well, at least Marigold wasn't there to hear how much her behaviour had grossed out Hanners, which would have only added to her embarrassment and confusion.
Surely she and Dale will recover. They can't pretend it didn't happen.
Next time I guess they'll meet in a less public place.

I think it's just that Dale is new. When I worked in the service industry it was a few weeks before I was allowed to close by myself, due to money being involved (like the other guy said). Granted, we still don't know how long it's been since he started, but it's one of the more recent events to happen in the comic so I doubt it's been a while.

And also that Dale wasn't working! Faye wasn't working either but as manager, she has to pick up the slack.

I think it's just that Dale was otherwise occupied, and Hanners knew it.
