I posit an alternative:
Panel 1: Close shot, Dale eating cereal.
Panel 2: Angus walks in.
Panel 3: Wider shot to reveal Dale eating cereal in Marigold and Angus' apartment. Dale and Angus have serious eye contact going on.
Panel 4: Dale and Angus eating cereal.
