Oh, that last part can happen to anyone, really. It's even documented in the first volume of a series of French books, Le Baleinié - Dictionnaire des Tracas (Le Baleinié - A Dictionary of Hassles), that lists funny neologisms to talk of common, unnamed hassles. A soothing read: it's good to find out you're not alone having these problems.
Here's a rough translation of the corresponding entry:

Anyway, I can say I was not surprised that Marigold didn't remember what she said. That's the kind of stuff panic can cause.
