What did we do this time?

He banned a guy in QCD.  I had in fact just PMed Ben to ask him to ban the guy; I guess Jeph had looked in following a message being reported to the mods.  He had some interesting ideas, but from time to time went way over the top in argument and got abrasive and personal as well.  I had been trying to rehabilitate him, but failed.

That silly, silly man!  He should know better than to visit QCD.  In fact, he does know better, and has commented on it before.

I know, it's a morbid, masochistic curiosity that he cannot control.  I can't really blame him.  But I do.

(Paul, I'm sure you realize that despite my tone, I have the utmost respect for the guy.  But really, this isn't the first time.)

OTOH it's been six months since the last time he saw the need to step in.

Many people may not want to discuss the comic, but for those who do, QCD is reasonably sanitary these days.  However, I suspect that Jeph, like many creative types, would really rather that it wasn't discussed at all, ever - but given that discussion would be likely to appear somewhere, by providing the forum he has at least a vestige of control over it.

From what I saw in that thread, it wasn't the content of the guy's posts so much as the sheer contempt he showed for those who disagreed with him. Such bans have happened in most forums here at one point or another.

In general, the QCD board has gotten pretty sane recently from what I can tell in my occasional lurks there. Which is mostly to say, good job Paul and Is It Cold In Here. You two have made quite a difference in a short period.
