How can someone believe so strongly in not believing in anything?

Because unfortunately, the fact that people believe there is something as strongly as the religious right does, greatly affects how the politics and laws of a country turn out, changes its social structure and in general, over the long term, fucks up many things which many scientifically and equal rights minded people enjoy.

Admittedly that was over the top and not terribly productive, but still hilarious.

Guys, when did we actually start paying attention to what Darryl posts? He will go into a thread, post a glib statement and everyone gets annoyed at him for it and he replies with "guys, I wasn't being serious, jeez. None of my post are actually serious". We have seen this before, his post about putting less effort into posting was obviously supposed to be facetious (but I think it didn't quite work), so just ignore him and be done with it.

Personally I will start taking Darryl seriously when he stops trying to be tommy so much.

Is this a joke?  Please tell me it's a joke.  Atheism doesn't mean that you don't believe in anything, it means you believe that there are no gods.  There is a difference.

And anyway, atheism is a blanket term used to cover many different beliefs.  After doing some reading a couple months ago I realise that I could probably describe my beliefs as metaphysical naturalism.  ie: not only do I believe that there are there no gods, but also that there's no such thing as the supernatural in general.
