I got 51.4 metres by getting him on one knee, holding down the W and O keys and scooting him along using the Q. It basically makes his front leg stay out in front of him, rigid, and balances him forward, while scooting makes him balance back, so there's an equilibrium, a long as you don't try to go too fast he'll always just rock forward and come to rest on his front foot.

But, then there is a hurdle at the fifty metre mark

I've found you can run reasonably by alternating QP and OW, holding until one leg is perpendicular at both body and knee, then letting go until that foot hits the ground, then switch. Repeat ad infinitum, or until you screw up and do a backflip or something.
