Ballard:
Nope, that's totally still the case.
They're fine in New York winter (it barely snows most years and when it does it melts before it hits the ground and turns into nasty slush) but when I was in Boston a lot last year I busted my ass at least half a dozen times on black ice and eventually the sole actually tore and I had to get new Docs.
ackblom12:
I managed to completely destroy my last pair of Docs with a mixture of Rochester winter and work. They lasted an impressive amount of time all things considered!
Lines:
If you're walking through snow that has been salted, the salt will destroy your shoes. That's how I lost my first pair of boots. Really, it's best to get a pair of boots that are meant for snow or water. Snow shoes or heavily lined rain boots work, but I don't know how good they'll look, but hey, your feet will be dry.
Barmymoo:
Yes but Jens that is because you have superpowers, not because of the boots.
Seriously. Boy was at 20 degree angles from the ground and didn't fall. No way that is natural.
pwhodges:
Actually, it's because he's Norwegian, and snow isn't slippery in Norway like it is here (actually, that's largely true, but I won't bother to go into it).
