nekowafer:
I have a pair of awesome blue Docs. They look almost like denim, sorta. I almost never wear them though, as I've gotten too used to my adidas sneakers.

I have been looking for a pair of boots that look semi-feminine and work with thicker ankles without making me looking like I have a cankle thing going on. Ideas?

calenlass:
Guys, I am looking for some boots. I don't know what my budget is yet, but I am going to hazard a guess at "as cheap as I can find" (>$300). Basically I am looking for some black leather boots that are reasonably weather-proof (as in, I can wear them walking around outside when it is cold and wet, even if I was not meant to hike in the snow in them or they are not Winter Proof or whatever). I prefer heels on my boots (acceptable) (also acceptable), and probably rubber soles. I know I can just google all of this, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a place I could check out online that you might have had good shoe experience with, because any ol' ebay auction doesn't tell me shit about the quality of what I am looking at.

Once upon a time, I found a pair of boots that were something like this, except knee-high and with a much more refined silhouette. I wish I could have got them, but they were like $5k. Apparently no cheaper versions of anything similar exist. Alas.

Ladybug:
Zappos is probably a good place to look. I probably suck at recommendations for specific boots, but these look alright, and will apparently keep you dry. And these remind me of the ones you link to, but I don't know about the weather-proof thing.

But yeah, they have about 1000 boots in total in the black, knee-high leather boots for women and black, mid-calf leather boots for women categories, so you might find something good.

I don't have personal experience with Zappos, but I've always heard tons of good stuff about it and often cursed that they didn't ship internationally, other than to Canada.

Lunchbox:
Hey ladybug! I have been using a thing called hopshopgo, it is a part of paypal that lets you pick from overseas websites and someone in the US will buy and ship them to you! Pretty handy.

Ladybug:
Thanks for the tip. I knew of JetCarrier (only ships to Scandinavian countries), but hadn't heard of that before. Sad thing, though, is that for the first 0.5kg it's like $42.00, which is way too much for most of the stuff I want to buy :/ But I'll keep it in mind, because if I ever actually graduate and get a proper job and want to buy something relatively expensive, it'll probably be worth it since it will probably be even more expensive in Norway anyways.
