Nodaisho:
Could be good, it depends on the kind. For what it's worth, there are many different cuts for modern military jackets as well. You've got the ones like I have that go halfway down the thigh, the ones that just go a bit long, or the ones that are made to go perfectly to the waist and no farther.

I was figuring one of the ones that wasn't particularly fancy. Probably the artillery officer jacket with the red piping. I kinda figured people would probably think it was cool and different, but not obviously recognize it as a civil war jacket. I've looked at other military uniform jackets before, too, particularly Russian. Most of the modern American (and most other country's) uniforms just don't look different enough, though. Do you know of any other Nation's military jackets (that are freely available) that are particularly interesting (and not too crazy)?
Nodaisho:
Camo, or solid color? Solid color would be harder to find, but there are lots of original camo patterns out there. For example, swiss alpenflage, Belgian "jigsaw", British DPM (also comes in a desert pattern, which is just two color), and German flecktarn. The cut of the jacket might also depend on whether you get a jacket designed as a field shirt or a field jacket. Mine is a jacket, which is probably why it is longer, I am pretty sure the ones meant to be just button up shirts are shorter.
There are a lot of patterns, and if you have a decently stocked surplus store near you, you should be able to find one you like.

You mean socks that do not match the outfit, or socks that do not match each other?
If the latter, then buy new socks.
If the former, then also buy new socks. Although unless your sock drawer consists of nothing buy rainbow patterned knee-highs, then you are both awesome and under-socked. All I wear are white/grey anklets, and they go with everything except my leather work shoes, which I wear black socks with. These match pretty much everything, or, more accurately, they don't clash with anything. They just exist.
