That seems like a pretty interesting read. Plus I will learn upwards of 80 new ways to tie a tie.

Tie knot is definitely too thin. Should go with a half of double winsor. Since you're wearing a vest, tie length doesn't matter as much, so you have some free reign to try different knots without worrying that your tie will be too short.
