Lord almighty.

Maybe with better advertising.

Like imagine that hat on Paul and it's totally practical, even a bit charming.

But my overwhelming desire to punch that thing wearing the hat in the face outweighs any practical application it may have.

It would also be nice in a less obnoxious color.

If I were to have something like that, though, I would want the compartment to open from the inside. I'm not going to be able to see what the hell I'm doing if I try to get something out of it while I'm wearing it anyway.

Guys, someone at my boyfriend's work, who thinks his sense of style is the best and teases my boyfriend on his(jokingly! They are pals! We all go to goth night together!), thinks my man would look good in these. Please inform them both that they are horribly mistaken. Keep in mind my boyfriend does have a belly on him.

What inspired someone to design that and then have it made in large quantities? What?

Anyway after all of that poking around on the Internet and coming up empty-handed and eventually getting those super-tight pants from JtG, I walk into the Levis outlet store this week and BAM motherfucking GENUINE LEVIS STA-PREST and they were $49, marked down from like $130. And then as I was paying for them I saw one of the staff taking the price tags off, so I think I really got away with a deal there. Hooray!

I picked the grossest colour on pupose...

I put my fags in my bra if I have ten pack, but I smoke roll ups, so sleeve rolling is just impractical.

That shirt is really blah, it looks like the sort of thing people who drink at my work would wear, that is the worst thing ever. They are very blah people who wouldn't know flair if Bootsy Collins was screaming Prince songs in their face.

Hey there fashion advice thread, I gots me a question for you...

It'sabout fur & the wearing thereof. If a piece of fur is over 100 years old & very beautiful, would you consider it OK to wear or do people on here have a NO! NO FUR! IT IS BAD! attitude, or does anyone think it's totally fine even new stuff?

I have already decided what I think, I'm just interested as I'm running a vintage shop online (Or will be when we get it up & running) & I've had a lo0t of request for vintage fur pieces.

GO!

I'm not a fan of fur, but that's mostly because I don't like the way it looks. It would be hypocritical of me to be all "NO FUR, FUR IS BAD" seeing how I own so many leather shoes and bags, and I'd say it would definitely be okay for you to wear that piece of fur and sell vintage fur clothing in your shop. I don't see what's so bad about it, why should killing animals for clothes be any worse than killing them for food?

I think a lot of people object to fur over leather or meat because of things like baby seal clubbing? I.e; a lot of fur is acquired in particularly inhumane ways

EDIT: Just to clarify that's not necessarily my opinion, I don't really have one on fur in general, except that I don't really like the way it looks. I'd rather they didn't club seals to death but I try not to think about it too hard, because it's a pretty hypocritical stance, to be honest.

Don't be sorry! I asked for opinions & you've given me good ones! A lot of the stuff I have to sell is rabbit & victorian, I also have a bear cape (How ace does that sound if you don't think about what it actually is....) Which is from someones Russian Nana. I like to think she killed it with her bare hands. (I've met her, she could).

On the strength of your replies I like to add; Would it put anyone off buying from a shop that sold fur? I'm thinking about setting up a seperate shop for the fur pieces so as not to put off buyers, esp. as I'm doing it for someone else I want it to be sucessful!x

That's a tricky question, and I think the answer to that lies in what kind of customer base you want. Personally I wouldn't mind buying from a store that sold fur at all, and I don't think I know a lot of people who I think would mind, but if you're planning on marketing towards vegan hipster types, then no, don't do it. I'm guessing that's not the case though.

I don't like fur. The reason I'm ok with leather is because we eat the meat, I'd probably be ok with fur if we ate fox and seal and stuff. The use of animal fur and the waste of the leftovers seems pretty horrible to me. That said, while I find it distasteful, I don't think a shop selling fur would stop me from shopping there.

Hey since we're on the subject, leather pants y/n?

I dunno, Jimmy, I'm always fussed about why people are so hung up on the death of the animal rather than their lives. A lot of animals that are killed for their fur only have lead decent lives, because the fur of a neglected and poorly kept animal is usually in a pretty bad shape, while animals that are killed for their meat often leads terrible lives because well, meat is meat and it's cheaper that way. Of course this is not always (or maybe not even usually, I'm no expert) the case. Like Dovey said, you can't argue that clubbing baby seals isn't horrible.

I would not be put off by a vintage shop that sold fur. I also don't think you have to set up a separate shop for the fur pieces either. I almost expect there to be fur in vintage shops that go farther back than the 70s. I do not particularly want to wear fur, but some people do and also may see it as a good item to have if they really like vintage fur. I guess you could make a disclaimer about how you don't know where exactly the fur came from if you're worried it might make people uncomfortable, but I doubt the type of people who would buy fur would mind. (Personally I don't wear fur, but I do wear leather because I eat beef and will wear wool and angora and the like because you don't kill the animal for those types of fibers. Basically as long as you eat what you're skinning, I don't care, because nothing is going to waste. Humane killing is a whole different thing for me.)

Yeah, I wouldn't not shop at a vintage store that sold fur. That would cut out a lot of vintage stores.

I also wouldn't wear leather pants. I'm sure there are some people who can pull them off.

I have done that with my giant leopard (fake) coat. The bear cape has gone to be cleaned. As soon as it's back I will post photos that would not be as good as if I drew a bear holding on round a mans neck & flapping in the wind.

The tiny photos I put a little way back have one of the rabbit capes which I'm keeping. I have worn it to a vintage event with a 20's style flapper dress & over a tube top with jeans & heels, which looked pretty damn good.

I'm trying to find other photos & failing because I'm on the wrong computer.

Ideas?

(those kicks are pretty nice, might be a bit too lime green for me to feel comfortable wearing though)

What Sam said....Having been a complete sneaker freaker & amased a huge collection of dunks & vans slips ons & some adidas, I have realised I haven't worn trainers in over a month. S'weirding me out, maybe that's what happens when you turn 30?

My friend designed this t-shirt, I think it's really cute:

or hey, thoughts on these?

ugh why is athletic footwear so ugly.  there has to be a way to be practical without sacrificing fashion right?  i'm tempted to buy these because if i am going to wear something ugly, i might as well go all the way:  http://www.brooksrunning.com/product/1000161D/

EDIT: oh hey wait i just found these:

ok now forum people who are active out-doorsy types (...man, if there are any of at all on a webcomic forum), got any suggestions?
or hey, just throw out opinions on what shoes are Hot or Not.

Mai, if the first two have goo traction, you could get away with them, but if not, go for the boots. Especially since they have ankle support. Personally I think almost all hiking boots are ugly, but they are way practical.

also i totally forgot how agonizing it is to break in new boots and i almost (but definitely not quite) regret my purchase, if only because then my feet would not be bloody and blistered and on fire and also might still have some skin on them
