See, that being just two colours and a simple pattern makes it work quite well.

Actually those are four nuances, not two colours.

Black is not a colour, it's a shade of nuance just like white. Now the plaid thing may be opinion vs opinion but this is just how it is.

Go read about Itten's colour theory or the NCS scale and you'll see!

Black is the absence of colour since you can only see it when light is not reflected to the eyes, mate.

Also, I already bought the sweater on BR model one for the bf, but I was wanting more of a dark brown blazer for him. I think the black might be too dark, but it looks fine on the model. But my boyfriend always wears black, thus the buying him new clothes, so I kinda wanted to get him away from that. Thoughts? Is dark brown gonna look ugly/too wash out?

My favorite jacket is a dark brown blazer I bought at H&M. For some reason I thought H&M only has women's clothes, but then I found that while shopping with my fiancee and it was only like $50 and it looks great.

Do you go downtown often? Don't go to any stores on the Magnificent Mile, they're basically permanently swamped with tourists; most of those stores also have another location just a little further south on State Street in the Loop.

I just find it funny cause Tommy's argument kinda reads like

omg that is my new favorite achewood

Combine the three primary colours, dogg.

See I work with computer graphics so much, to me that means white. (#FFFFFF)

shade of nuance

Nuance? Is that the word Norwegians use to refer to value?

Saying black and white aren't colors is fine from a colloquial sense, but if you are going to go all technical color theory then value is part of color. Ergo, black and white are colors. Specifically, they are opposite ends of the value spectrum for completely desaturated colors of any hue you want.

But then, when I wear plaid, I either do it as something layered, like, under things or as a scarf, or alternatively, when I am going for a particularly plaidy look.

Same here. I've got a couple of subdued plaid shirts that I pair with what would otherwise be ridiculously plain sweaters. It's not even remotely garish.

If it will shut the plaid discussion, I will agree that plaid is ok. I will even post a picture of myself in a plaid skirt. If it will make this thread actually be good again. Please

(I don't really want to post a picture of myself in a plaid skirt. It is short, and I have a big butt, and I only wear it with these fishnet-y tights, and its just for going to goth night. And basically, last time I wore it my undies were showing, but no one thought anything of it because as my boyfriend pointed out I would not be/was not the most scantily clad there. There was a lady wearing a corset-y bra thing, it laced up on the cups, and some garters and panties, and heels. Oh and a boa. So yeah. But nonetheless, it is for going to clubs and nothing else.)

In another attempt to move on from the plaid discussion, I will start talking about hats.

What is the deal with everyone wearing awful hats in winter? Yes, I get it, you're cold. So wearing a non-descript beanie (or whatever you call them in Americaland) or something to keep yourself warm is fine. But man, so many people are out and about with big, ridiculous hats on, and they just look daft. I must've saw upwards of fifty people wearing these kinds of hats today:

...and like 99% of them looked totally stupid. The 1% that didn't were people who just happened to be attractive enough that they can probably wear anything and look good.

So yeah... hats.

edit: whoa huge image
