Actually I thought about it a little more but even though the plots in Mad Men are paper-thin it's made up for by the characters, who are about as fully-realised and and have as complex an inner life as anything else going.

also, suits.

I love Mad Men as well, but maybe it is because I get lost in how finely dressed and beautiful everyone is. And I love the time period and ...I just love everything about it. Oh the 60's

Mad Men is surprisingly entertaining for a show completely devoid of plot.

I've been bored of the 50s thing for a while now. Like, it is a good style I guess but especially where I live there are a lot of people going for the rockabilly/50s/pinup style thing and man it used to be interesting but now everybody is dressed like everybody else and I'm starting to think it's done its dash.
Dressing to look like James Dean will never get old.

I have to be honest, the pin-up style has never really done it for me. I tend to shy away from things that reflect the 'ideal womanly shape' because I'm not curvy and I find it sort of confining. To me it's part of the ideal that women should have long flowing locks, curvy bodies and do household chores.

I much prefer sillouettes which are more floaty/whimsy, androgonous/masuculine or structured.

(angry face!)

Not sure about the boots, but apparently over-knee is very 'this season' psssshhh

That first chick looks so amazingly uncomfortable I laughed aloud. Also, structure in clothes is exactly what pin-up style has a lot of. Military-inspired clothes also have a lot of structure. That first girl's shirt and the second girl's harem-pants romper thing do not. The latter is floaty because of the fabric it is made from, not because the design is inherently ethereal, and the former is just frumpy. The skirt would be pretty ok if it wasn't too short for her chicken-legs. Edit: I said too short, maybe it is the wrong shape? I am not sure, but it isn't flattering. It makes her thighs look skeletal.

I like the jacket in the third picture, though. It is pretty cool.

I think the not so curvy ladies dislike the 50's wear, and the more curvy ladies do. There's nothing wrong with that. Everybody is right! Yay! But I mean, wear what looks good on you, and that you are comfortable with.

I actually like the style, and by no means am I a curvy lady. Some things I don't like, but there are others that do and I would like to be able to pull them off. But then again, I'm not built that way, I never will be and I will just stick to what works for me and admire from afar.

I like the sound of the bowler hat outfit, it has a kind of "What I used to wear in the 90's but still looked up to my older 80's style cousins" feel to it. A little desperately seeking susan matched with Blossom, but sexy pencil skirt instead of denim short shorts (Which is what I would've worn it with.)

I have decided on two outfits. I chose because they were on sale & shiny. Both these things make me happy:

I'm feeling brave. I will also have pink hair, so I will look like a space alien from the future. This will be my look for the weekend.

Also I would totally rock both dresses with black tights and huge chunky black heels or boots. They are party outfits! Party outfits are allowed to be zany!

I like how despite the fact half of you don't seem to like the choices, I still feel all posi & nice from reading the replies....I was kinda planning on going for some over the top make up as I will be seeing a friend of mine who is a make up artist, she is awesome.

I was kinda worried it would cross into costumey territory, but I guess I don't really care if it does.

Part of the point of the over the top dresses (Which still haven't arrived) is as I am turning 30, so I feel it is the best time to be over the top silly. When I was in my early 20's I would go out in stupid things all the time (My favourite was a Hunter S Thompson outfit.) So in order to say goodbye to my 20's I feel silliness is in order! x
