C-Clamp - Longer Waves sounds awesome!! Def. the best of the 3 albums posted.. but the file was messed up and only extracted 4 songs.. could you please re-rip/upload this album? ..and any other C-Clamp stuff if you have it. Thanks for introducing me to this band!!

it worked fine for me...  i'm starting to think that when this sort of thing happens, it's an error in the download rather than the file itself.  that's the only explanation as to why it works for some of us and not others.

Too many posts for me to try to keep up with whilst on vacation! Margot & The Nuclear So and So's is great. I love Yann Tiersen, VSnaresFreak: epic posts esp. Tera Melos. I missed Vitreous Humor in the day, I can't wait.

After the Boys Life and Vitreous Humor talk I made my way over to the Crank! website for a bit of nostalgia. Expect a Mineral post soon...maybe even a Caulfield Records retrospective if I feel really motivated.

Here's the Longer Waves repost (not sure about the error badteethcomics)

Ensure your tags are correct and that you have specified both Artist/Album in your post.

Upload your files in either a .zip or a .rar archive to mediaf!re.com, in multiple parts if the album is over 100mbs. The reason for this is that we know mediaf!re is safe and efficient and allows multiple downloads. The ads on other sites, such as Sendspace, are known to contain viruses on the page. Post your link using code tags. It's the # icon above the policeman emoticon. This prevents the links from being traced back to the forums, lowering the chance that the wrong people notice the thread, potentially threatening Jeph with legal action.

They did a split with this excellent band in the same vein called This Town Needs Guns.  I'll up it if anyone is interested.

Enjoy and that, if you don't have it, and if you do, these are of pretty good quality, so maybe you'll want to swap yours out. Or maybe not. Either way.

More Tera Melos & By the End of Tonight --

Complex Full of Phantoms, good quality

Code: [Select]
http://www.mediaf!re.com/?zzazzwynojm

"In the two years since the release of their debut album, A Tribute To Tigers, By the End of Tonight have toured almost non-stop, playing every rock club, living room (or even barn) that would have them. Their relentlessness has paid off, as evidenced by their half of this split album with good friends and like-minded power jammers Tera Melos. Not to be outdone, Sacramento's Tera Melos have also been on the road more than they've been home this year, touring with the likes of Fall of Troy and Horse the Band. Their frantic, absurdly complex songs are the perfect compliment to By the End of Tonight's darker, more sinister instrumental metal. The combination makes this by far the strongest release to date from either band." (description from TR's website)

been lurkin' for a while... hey!

Vitreous Humor: Posthumous
(Crank Records, 1998)

Code: [Select]
http://www.mediafire.com/?kvzzjamrtomWhy this album, a collection of odds-and-sods from a little-known Kansas indie rock band isn't seen as one of the crowning achievements of that whole mid-90s Mid-West emo scene is beyond me. Yeah, bands like Christie Front Drive and Boys Life, while being pretty good, still had more prestige that these dudes. The only time I've seen them in a magazine was in an off-hand reference to them in the opening paragraph of an article about Jimmy Eat World, back when they were a credible part of that scene.

Well, off-hand reference nothing. Because these guys were great. While this album is in essence of a compilation, the songs here are remarkably cohesive and flow together well, with a sound combining "angular", once-clean twice-noisy guitars and lead-singer Danny Pound's yarbling, non-sequitur lyrics. Recommended for fans of the above bands as well as anyone even remotely interested in the mid-90s Midwest emo scene.

Caveat Downlodeur: The songs are in .WMA, but I can try to find a higher-quality rip of the album.

No discussion of mid-west emo is complete without Vitreous Humor.

I uploaded their album "Posthumous" to the thread a blue moon ago but it's not there anymore. When I get around to upping it I will post a link here.

I may end up uploading the "(Don't Forget To) Breathe" compilation.

I can't seem to get into This Town Needs Guns. I think it is because the band just seems to be a front for Tim Collis to show off his guitar playing. They don't spend enough time just trying to actually write good songs. It's not quite as bad on the Cats and Cats and Cats split and their singles compilation thing, but on that Animals album it's pretty much unlistenable bullshit.

Cats and Cats and Cats are pretty decent, though.

Yeah, I downloaded Animals off of SirenSound and found incredibly plodding and pretentious and ultimately, a softened-up pussy version of Owls. (Sorry to anyone who enjoyed it). Even Maps and Atlases who I dislike were leagues better than them.

I guess I should checkout Cats and Cats?

Eh, I think they're alright.  I agree, the stuff I've heard off of Animals was pretty boring.  I just think the song "If I Stand Still, Maybe I'll Get Out Of Here" is really catchy.

this town needs guns are not nearly as good as owls were

Animals was recorded in an alternate universe where tim kinsella got really into B&S and put on a scarf and wrote some shitty lyrics

So the key to sounding THAT mellow is to wear a scarf?

Here's "Chemistry for Changing Times" by The Blacktop Cadence.  Recorded wayyy back in 96/97, and remastered/rereleased in 2003, it's a fairly varied take on the Braid/American Football midwestern emo sound, and features Chris and George (vocals/guitar, and drums, respectively) from Hot Water Music.

Some of us cannot work with .wma files. Can you rip to .mp3 and re-upload this, please?

Oh why hello there, mediaf!re thread. How are you today?

With all this This Town Needs Guns talk, I realized I have seemed to have misplaced my copy of my Owls s/t. Would anyone be so kind as to re-up it for me?

Thank you!
