More Tera Melos & By the End of Tonight --
Complex Full of Phantoms, good quality

"In the two years since the release of their debut album, A Tribute To Tigers, By the End of Tonight have toured almost non-stop, playing every rock club, living room (or even barn) that would have them. Their relentlessness has paid off, as evidenced by their half of this split album with good friends and like-minded power jammers Tera Melos. Not to be outdone, Sacramento's Tera Melos have also been on the road more than they've been home this year, touring with the likes of Fall of Troy and Horse the Band. Their frantic, absurdly complex songs are the perfect compliment to By the End of Tonight's darker, more sinister instrumental metal. The combination makes this by far the strongest release to date from either band." (description from TR's website)
been lurkin' for a while... hey!

Why this album, a collection of odds-and-sods from a little-known Kansas indie rock band isn't seen as one of the crowning achievements of that whole mid-90s Mid-West emo scene is beyond me. Yeah, bands like Christie Front Drive and Boys Life, while being pretty good, still had more prestige that these dudes. The only time I've seen them in a magazine was in an off-hand reference to them in the opening paragraph of an article about Jimmy Eat World, back when they were a credible part of that scene.
Well, off-hand reference nothing. Because these guys were great. While this album is in essence of a compilation, the songs here are remarkably cohesive and flow together well, with a sound combining "angular", once-clean twice-noisy guitars and lead-singer Danny Pound's yarbling, non-sequitur lyrics. Recommended for fans of the above bands as well as anyone even remotely interested in the mid-90s Midwest emo scene.
Caveat Downlodeur: The songs are in .WMA, but I can try to find a higher-quality rip of the album.

They did a split with this excellent band in the same vein called This Town Needs Guns. I'll up it if anyone is interested.

Yes please.

Oh wait, my bad. It was Cats and Cats and Cats and This Town Needs Guns. They are still very good bands, so I will upload it anyways.

I uploaded their album "Posthumous" to the thread a blue moon ago but it's not there anymore. When I get around to upping it I will post a link here.

I may end up uploading the "(Don't Forget To) Breathe" compilation.
