letting him know you think he's a rad guy and that you value his friendship is a pretty okay way to apologize to a person who doesn't like apologies

Emaline:
I am going to let it go if this movie thing doesn't work out. And maybe make him cookies and not say why I made them.

Hi.

RedLion:
Went to Madison today for the swearing-in ceremony for the new legislature there. Party-ish atmosphere, as the Dems control both chambers of the WI legislature for the first time since '94. It was a pretty stark contrast from the beginning of the last session, when they immediately started fighting.

It felt good to be back there. I miss working there, and all the energy, fun it brings with it...not to mention the feeling of having a mission, of working towards something. I met my old boss, Rep. Jorgensen. Then I was invited into the Speaker of the Assembly's office, both because the Speaker is from Janesville so he and my dad go way back, and because his press staffer worked alongside me in Jorgensen's office. I tried to ask around a little bit to see if anyone up there would be looking for help again this summer, but at the most I got tentative responses. Oh well. At the very least I've re-established some old connections and made some new ones with a number of Representatives and two of the Senators. Shook a lot of peoples' hands and got a couple reps' phone numbers. Nothing big, but it was a fun and pretty productive day. I got to feel all hoity-toity and stuff.

I'm off to Boston next week, you guys have no idea how excited I am for this! I haven't been overseas in about 10 years and I haven't ever done it by myself. Not only do I get to see new and interesting things but I get to do it with new and interesting people! Also I get to actually feel cold! I haven't felt real actual cold in so long I've almost forgotten what it feels like and CHRIST I'M SO EXCITED!!!

In other news I got a $100 visa gift card in the mail from this frequent shopper/rewards points program I am in. My step-mum uses the card for me because she shops at those stores and there are none in my area. I used it to buy Volumes 1-4 of The Sandman by Neil Gaiman and a copy of Watchmen (all paperbacks and so each one was only about $14US). So I could qualify for the free shipping thing Shane, being the rad and awesome fellow that he is, allowed me to have them shipped to his place so that hopefully he can bring them to Boston next week. Woo! Woo! I say.
