Where they come from; hence the water, the peat through which it was filtered, and things like that.  Scots whisky is made using malted barley (hence the name "malt whisky", or "single malt" if only one variety is used), and the use of peat flavouring for many of them (most notably those from the island of Islay) is distinctively Scottish; other whiskeys are made using various other grains (hence the name "grain whiskey"); bourbon is made from grain which is more than half corn (i.e. maize).

After playing a show and watching somebody else's after, and after enjoying some homebrewed Kölsch I helped make, a bowl of fine marijuana is a good way to top off the evening.

My left hand saved the day. I made a trip to a liqour store to stock up. There she was. Standing alone on the shelf. A single bottle with an enticing label in friendly red letters: "Laphroaig, cask strength". My brain was telling me: "You don't necessarily like that, you never tried that before, just take that Talisker like you always do. It may be too strong for ya?" But my left hand just wouldn't let go. I was standing there for like three minutes caressing the neck... Then a friendly sales clerk showed up: "You know, that's the last bottle of the batch we ordered. You won't be getting any more this year..." Just a tad over 50 euros.

Ahhhhhh...
